Medication and psychotherapy
As a clinical social worker, I am licensed to provide counseling and psychotherapy but not to prescribe medication. Psychotropic medications can be an important avenue of treatment for a number of mental illnesses. There are also alternatives to medication in many circumstances, and I can work with you to devise a treatment approach that is comfortable for you. If medication is a choice you would like to consider, I can help you find a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner for an evaluation. I continue to provide your psychotherapy while a psychiatrist follows your medication treatment. I also collaborate with your primary care provider when appropriate.
Making an appointment
To make an appointment for an initial assessment and consultation, please call (607) 272-3455 and leave your name, your phone number, and some times when I can call you back. While I can occasionally answer your call, more often I am in session but can call you back within 24 hours or on the next business day.
I offer afternoon and evening hours Monday through Thursday and some Friday daytime hours. I can offer an occasional Saturday appointment.
If you are in emotional crisis or feeling suicidal, please call the Crisis Line (272-1616) at Suicide Prevention and Crisis Services or proceed to your nearest hospital emergency room.
Payment and fees
I participate with a variety of insurance plans and offer a sliding fee to clients with financial difficulties who do not have insurance or prefer not to use it. Please call (607) 272-3455 to learn more about payment and fees.
